Default Carpet Question

Hey guys I getting ready to replace the carpet in my 71 and have a stupid question about thermo-barriers. I purchased a thermo-barrier that is approx 1/4 inch thick with a soft felt/jute backing with a layer of foil sewn on the other side, it is a fire rated material.

I like it because is was thin(easly conpresses) and would mold easly to curves and not give me a problem with the jute backing already on the carpet.

My stupid question is am I remembering correctly that the foil should face towards the heat source(down) I think I stayed awake during science class back in school, but it might have been after the kegger party, and I was absent that day.

I guess you get what you pay for the instruction were vague at best, thay only say keep it at least 4" from direct contact if using it under the hood.

Thanks in advance Dave
