Default Help- BB owners- What spark plugs are you running?

Which plugs? And, are they considered hot or cold?

Does anyone know of a website that explains this?

I am running Stock 1974 454 plugs in my Vette. They are fouling in my modified BB. Would I go hotter or colder?

Thanks,

Bob

A hotter plug would help , but have you determined what's causing them to foul out ?Fuel ? oil ? Ign. problems ? air/fuel ratio ? cam profile ? A lot of idling or low speed driving etc.?

I really like ACCEL plugs #276 is normal heat range, #274 is a step colder and add an S for short so # S276 in a normal heat range plug but about 3/8th inch shorter then normal to clear a header tube.
I usually run my plugs 3 or 4 years without a problem.

Hi Brent,

I may have jumped the gun on the plugs; I need to fix the EXTREMELY rich idle first- may be a bad power valve. I am buying a couple to play around this week. It has the stock 6.5 in there and I will try a 4.5 and a 5.5...... That should clean up the idle a bit....

You go Bob . I also agree w/ Norval on the Accel 276. In the mid 80's I ordered a new in the crate LS7 (a moment of reverance please ha) and ran it in a bracket car and used that plug many times.
