New 73 Coupe
Hey all. I've been a member for years but for some reason when I changed computers/emails I can't use my old nick.
Anyway, I just picked up a nice 73 coupe. Small block, auto, ps/pb & working air if you can believe it. 74,000 miles and it's been undergoing an amateur resto for at least 10 years. I still need to check the front end including the p/s, the brakes are a bit low yada yada. Hey, the clock even works!
I haven't had an old Vette since my 66 which was 5 Vettes ago. It has an aftermarket cassette with an equalizer :smash: What would be the better choice to replace it, XM radio or a C/D player? Is there a good setup that goes right in?
I have 2 stock radios with it also. One was rebuilt and one is more like a core. I also got a NOS bezel to re install if I want. I'd rather have a good aftermarket setup since radio reception is crummy here in the mountains.
Thanks for any info.

My personal opinion is get a CD plater or MP3 because then you could play whatever you want any time you want. XM radio is still a radio....

Cool. How well does an Xm work back in the hills? I know when I am down in Ky my cell phone doesn't work unless I am right in town.

Re: New 73 Coupe (dinosaurII)
i have a mini disk player in mine and i love it. ( i always seem to scratch cds trying to change and put the old one away b4 the light turns green) but if u get one i recomend u have a portable net md by sony so u can copy music from your computer they are about 120$( if ur into that sorta thing) u can get like 60 yo 70 songs on one disk. make sure you get one with long play or extended play otherwise u will only get about an hour of music. took me 3 weeks to find mine online but im happy with it now. either way you go good luck!

Re: New 73 Coupe (bb Blue 73)
Thanks for the replies guys. :D AFA pics go, I have a new computer and I know how to save to my hard drive from my digital camera. Some forums support direct posting but I haven't figured out what to do about remote hosting. Lazy. :smash:
We're having a show & shine today. I'm going to wash the car about 6:30 so it'll probably rain. I'll try and take some pics later and maybe figure out how to post. I really need some pics of the engine compartment because it looks like it was just detailed. Very impressive.

Re: New 73 Coupe (redwingvette)
Well, I finally got some pics of the car but for some reason I can't upload them into the puter. I've had this problem before and I was able to figure it out but the system is new so it's unfamiliar. I did open an account at cardomain so maybe someday.
I checked the dashboard where the radio goes and they didn't cut it when they installed the aftermarket unit. :D The problem is I might as well use the stock radio hooking in an aux. unit. I spoke to an installer about it and it seems the simplest and cheapest way to go.
Reading this forum has helped figure out some things especially about the a/c unit. I noticed that when the blower motor is switched to high it cuts in and out. This is especially true when the temp is high. I guess it's a relay problem but since it's an Az. car I'd have thought it would be up to par.
Oh well.
