383 In and Running
I finally finished the install of the 383 I built last year and today had a custom exhaust installed (2-1/2") with Flowmaster 40's. All I can say is I love it the sound is awesome. I've only put about 60 miles on it since the exhasut went in and maybe another 75 prior to it but I'm getting all the bugs worked out, I lost the tach drive adapter for the MSD tach drive distributor and I was having trouble with a location for my engine temp sensor(original is 1/2" pipe thread but the spot on the new aluminium head is 3/8"), accelerator cable adjustment and linkage. I should have enough of the bugs worked out for Mondays cruise night. I'm going to try and get some video to post on Sunday to share with you guys.
ps, Gary tell Kevin I changed my mind from the 50's to the 40's so I have a pair of 50's available :D

Just put the sensor up on the intake manifold near the thermostat. I have also found that motors just seem to magically free up after 500+ miles.

Hey Tom,
Good to hear from you, it's been a while. Glad to hear you got the car on the road again too.
Looks like Marks will be another rainout again tomorrow, I hope the weather pattern doesn't follow last year.
Today we're swapping in 373's into Kevin's 75. Hopefully we'll catch up with each other this season.

Re: 383 In and Running (gtr1999)
Didn't get to do any video taping today so I'll try again tomorrow.
Gary have fun with the gear change, can Kevin use the 50's he could consider it a late hs grad present or a early college grad present. I was thinking the same thing about Marks, it's the first time I've had it ready to drive and I'm not going to get there because of the weather. You still doing the Walmart one in Wallinford(Friday or Saturday)?
PRND21, yes it does change the character, The stock 350/300 with stock 2" to the 383/425 with 2-1/2" and 40s, I haven't turned on the stereo since Friday afternoon when the exhaust was installed. :D

Re: 383 In and Running (gtr1999)
Hey, Gary one other question, I remember you had a place I could use to find the correct speedo gear to correct my speedo for the change from 3.08 to 3.53. Let me know if it's website or phone number, Thanks

Re: 383 In and Running (69shark)
Hi Tom,
Thank you for the generous offer, but Kevin went out last year and picked up 40's for his car. I have a set of 50's too in storage, not sure if I'm even going to use them?
For the speedo gear, what tranny are you running, the orginal M-20 Muncie? The AIM should have a page with the speedo gears. I found a difference between the ST-10 and Muncie because of the main shaft drive gear used.
We try to get to the WalMart shows, they're the 2nd & 4th Sat in Wlfd. Like Mark's most were rained out last year. We hope to get to the Hamden show this Sunday @ Quinnipiac University.I hear it is now the 3rd largest show in CT.
