Default Anybody else get weird about the wife/SO driving the vette?

This morning, my wife casually mentions that I should put the T-tops on the '70. I get this slightly sick feeling in the pit of my stomach...I know what's coming. "Oh, by the way, I think I'll take it to work". 1) She is a good driver. 2) Her daily driver is worth twice what the vette is worth. 3)She can park 10 feet from her office window and watch it all day. How come it still bugs the crap out of me?

I'm with you 110%. Before I got mine I had to agree that I would trust my wife to drive the car. A few years back I said that I wouldn't, and she didn't agree to get the car. I remember right after I got the car I got home and opened the garage door and  the car was gone. I told myself, take a few deep breaths, everything will be alright. I was relieved when I heard it coming down the street. :auto:

My wife doesn't and hasn't ever driven mine cause she can't push in the clutch. She's also a little scared of it.

So just put in a stiff racing clutch and she won't want to drive it anymore. Also, it doesn't have A/C so there's another reason she usually doesn't like being in it for too long.

My wife just could care less about the Vette. No desire to drive it at all. I even tried to get her to drive it and she does not want to.

My wife can't drive the C3 because it is a 4 speed. She will only drive the C4 if her car is in the shop being serviced.I don't like it either.

To be honest with you....since I have had my Corvette...no women have been willing to drive a four speed and don't want to admit they don't know how.

When my 90 was a couple of years old, my wife took me to the airport in my truck. She had my keys while I was out of town (including the Vette keys). When I got home, I got in the Vette and found the lid of a coffee cup on the floor!!!!!!!!! She never mentioned that she had driven it and she knew that drinking coffee in my car was forbidden! Long story short, she's gone and so is the car. But now I have a 68 project car that has not run in years.

Let her drive it. If she likes it, maybe you can get her to help you wrench your car.

my wife wanted to drive it until she got behind the wheel (she is 4'11") and wanted to know how to tell where the front end stopped. :yesnod:

My wife drives a Z06, she gets weird about me driving it! I need to make sure I'm spotlessly clean before getting in. I have a few traffic tickets on my record, so I don't mind if she drives, it's her car after all!

My wife doesn't really crave the vette. She can drive anything, and drive it well.

The only incident that happened was when she drove it home from my parents
house one night. It was very windy. On the way home, a tree blew into the
fast lane of the highway. She saw it and swerved, but not quite enough.
A limb caught the side mirro and popped the glass out. That was it !!!

Hell, she can drive it, since she is the one that suggested I buy it.

 :yesnod:

My gf is too scared to drive it. I managed to get her to drive it home from a local fast food place, once.

My wife came home one night after driving my 74 and said she pulled up next to a Rustang at a stop light. The kid in the stang started reving up the engine and making noise. So when the light turned green the kid tries to lanch the rustang. My wife could not resist, She nails the throttle and grabs second gear while leaving the poor ford in the smoke. That must have been embarrasing, a 56 year young lady blowing your doors off!!!! :steering:

My wife has a C5 Vert and could care less about my "old car." For that I am grateful! :)

My wife is the reason I got my 82 - her high school boy friend had a 60's convertible with side pipes. Since we are one flesh, anything she wants to do is OK. She drives as well as I do. A two footed driver - one on brake, one on accelerator.

My wife doesn't like my vette. She doesn't like the side pipes (they burn), too noisy, no power steering, no AC, etc., etc. She prefers her Honda S2000 which is a very fast car. She says she may drive it just to get the feel of real togue.

Frequently we take both of our sports cars out together to play.

My first wife, now deceased, would take our new '62 Vette w327/340 hp and streeet race it all over Akron, Ohio every time I went out of town. We were young and foolish then, of course

If you don't want your better half to drive your vette, just install Hooker side pipes without covers. :jester :jester :jester

our Vette was my wife's idea, so I'd be cruel not to let her drive it. She's a good driver and actually likes to take it grocery shopping! I hate having to reach into the back of that thing.
Anyway, she doesn't work, so I leave it for her on days I know she has to go somewhere and doesn't need 4 doors.

Nope don't have to worry about it. I just went ahead and installed unadjustable seats. They don't slide forward or backward. They do recline though. I'm 5'11" and my wife is 5'2". So even if she did want to drive it she couldn't.
