How do I track down info on my motor with the s/n on the block?
I don't have a lot of information on the motor in my vette. A previous owner had built it. I was told it's a 383. I'm trying to track down and document all I can on the motor and components. I pulled the numbers off the motor. Where can I go with that?

Always tough to know what you got without tearing into it. You can drop the pan and see if there is any grinding on the lower edge of the cyl walls, a tell tale sign of stroker clearence.

The first numbers are V=Flint(v-8) production plant
11=November
03= day
TYC=1975 TYC 350 conv.cab V LF5 145 2 C-10 & 1500
1978 TYC 350 van & bus L LS9 165 4 C-20 to 3500
Where are the other numbers from? They don't look firmilar. If its a 383 the numbers on the block won't tell you. Its just a 350 bored and stroked.
Try getting the numbers on the back of the block on the drivers side.

The plate on the back of my 73-350 has the serial number and then V0414CLA. What does the CLA stand for?
