OT- AC spark plaugs made in Japan?
I replaced the spark plugs in my daily driver(grand prix gtp) yesterday and the AC Delco plugs I got say AC on the ceramic, but on the metal base say NGK Japan. What is the deal with this?
It was also my first spark plug change on a transverse engine and my hand is hurting from wedging it between the firewall and the engine.

A/C delco is no longer a GM owned operation. GM sold them...It is Dephi now... They are free to do whatever they choose. So they are making the product as cheap as possible to compete with all of the discount junk that is out there. Quailty is the first to suffer. Next they will discuntinue low sale items which may affect us corvette guys. I don't like it but what choice do we have? Welcome to free enterprize. :U

NGK's are very good plugs. They are not "cheap junk." But that may or may not hold true for all the other newly-replaced AC Delco items...we'll see.

Through my racing experience, I won't use anything but NGK or Bosch. Sorry, but the rest just never held up, especially the Champions. We could burn a set up in one session. Granted, it's been a few years and the newer platinum technology changed everything, but I go with what has held up in the past.

Be happy. IF they were still an American affiliated company, the would be made in China!

Some of the A-C Rapidfires are made here in the USA, others with NGK proprietarty "Irridium" electrodes are made overseas (probably ducking the USA enviromental laws!)

Delco is still owned by GM, but yes, the majority of their parts are outsourced and put in a Delco box. They're the same thing you could get at AutoZone or O'reilly, etc.
From what I understand, the Rapidfires were redesigned, and have now been discontinued.

Is anything made entirely in the US anymore??? :flag
The brakes have been made in Australia since the 84 model and the torque tube since the 97 model. I am sure there are other items "not made in the USA" It has a lot to do with the US OEM suppliers saying the Corvette production is too small to be profitable and they want to make in excess of 100000 units per year.
