Have You Painted Your Brake Calipers?
I have been looking at this, but may have to wait a while to get below 70 degrees around here. What did you use?

I've done this before, I used high heat paint from autozone for like $6 a can and it works perfect! Just mask everything off and spray away

I used it recently. It's a catalyzed paint so once you mix it you have to use it. I mixed it in two batches and did the front first and then the rear. The only problem I had with it is due to the silicone fluid I use. No matter how much I cleaned the calipers I still got fisheyes. I kept putting it on in light coats until it was acceptable. If you use regular fluid you should be ok. The calipers look very impressive. They almost have a ceramic look to them but when you feel the paint it had a rubbery feel. All in all I would do it again. btw I also tried the spray on caliper paint and it fish eyed also but the gloss wasn't near what you get with this kit.

Re: Have You Painted Your Brake Calipers? (OHSIXX)
Hi
I wanted to buy a similar brake 2 component paint, but they didn't have it in red anymore.
So I bought brake spray paint in a spray can. It is a lot of work to mask everything off while the calipers are still installed on the car.
Later on, I resprayed while I was overhauling all calipers ( O-ring kit inst. ) again with the spray paint in red.
I guess the brush on 2 component paint is OK when you intend painting while all installed on the car.
Good luck. Gunther

I just used everyday enamel. As long as you don't get brake fluid on it everything is fine. I suppose it faded a little after 3 years and 35,000 miles but it is easy to shoot some more over top of the old stuff.

I just used standard enamal spray paint. Looks good now, but I will have to see how it holds up long term. At least it looks better than the surface rust color before I painted them.

Regular Red Devil Polyurethane brushed on. Been a couple years now. Can always touch up.

I used Rust-Oleum last year and it still looks great. They have several metallic colors and the best part is it's cheap and you can buy at ACE hardware and the like. :D

question - if you ever want to buy new calipers and need to trade in your old calipers for a core charge will the vendor give you a hard time for painted calipers?
That's the only thing keeping me from painting my calipers, I still haven't decided if I want to replace them or not. Actually, I put black POR-15 on my rear calipers.

I don't see a problem. The calipers are stripped and repainted during the rebuild process. The only issue I have seen is whether they are been rebuilt with SS piston inserts before. Then you may have a problem. That's a rebuild on a rebuild and safety issues come into play.

Painted mine with rust-o-leum. Looked pretty good and at a few dollars a can, you can't lose. And if you ever need to touch up, just mask and spray a little bit and it's good as new. I used a red primer and then top coat, sunrise red or something like that. Believe it or not, I actually got these recommendations from c5 general, so you might want to do a search there.
