I think you got off pretty good with little to no damage!!!!
What kind of a joint was it?
I get those bad images in my mind of that happening all of the time.

Now you have an excuse to make the underside of your car as shiny as the topsides.

I feel your pain. I've done it twice! Imagine if I had the torque that you have...heh heh heh.

I have a cracked battery box because of u-joint failure...

It sucks, but you'll have to replace the joint and shaft at most.

Good luck, Les

Now you can go out an buy those carbon fibre ones that GrandsportC3 (Olivier) has. Not only are they light and cool looking, they will cost us Canadians a small fortune @$600 US for the pair.

That's why you want to use SPICER U joints without grease fittings. Nothing else comes close. You can't cut corners on half shaft U joint.SPICER..... Spicer. or Spicers

not likely....u joints are the problem, not the half shafts...i've never seen half shafts break before the joints do...

hang around a track a little, you'll see lots of drivetrain parts including half shafts let go before U joints, the point being that with the tq. you engine produces and given that fact that it or a combination of things severely cracked your fibreglass rear spring the other year and led you to replace it with a steel one, there has to be some serious metal fatigue setting in why not look at replacing both halfs and u-joints - the carbon fibre was a joke although I wish I could afford them for myself.

That's what I was going to suggest ... the later model shafts that are slightly larger.
I had trouble finding the Spicers near me - special order for my parts store.
I ended up using the cheaper Brute Force non-greasables - but mine is a SB.
