Default Missing chrome over distributor, coil, etc. What is it?

Someone brought it to my attention that I'm missing the chrome cover that sits over the coil and other parts at the back of the engine compartment. Anyone know what it is called so I can search for it on the internet or know where I can find one?

It's the ignition shielding. You can buy it brand new as a complete kit from any of the Vette restoration suppliers.

With todays modern wires you don't need it since it was designed to reduce radio interference and wires now have sheilding to prevent that. But it does look  .

:iagree:
I want for it's aesthetic value, I'm not concerned with functionality. I see there are a number of clamps associated with this cover. (Ecklers) Does it take a lot of hardware to mount this or should there be framework on the car to bolt on to? I'll have to take a closer look at it when I get home tonight.

I have been looking at getting a new set for mine. I think most venders can set you up. Vette Products here in Mi has the complete set, includes all the brackets needed, for $240. Maybe my wife will get them for me for my birthday :yesnod: since it is coming up in June.

is your car NCRS material? If not, then consider the bulk, P.I.A. factor, and costs involved... then determine if its worth the trouble in your particular situation.

My 73 didn't have the ignition shielding when I got it, & I have now aquiered a full set of ign shielding...anybody have any diagrams on how to put it on ? I also have an edlebrock performer intake, will that make any difference in installation of the ign shielding ?

As noted it is to prevent radio interference with the radio. These days it is not necessary but it does look very nice. Here is an older version.
