Put 150 miles on today "practicing" for CIV!!!
Took the Vette out for a nice 3.5 hour Sunday drive today, 150 miles total. Top down, cruising at 65-75 mph or so and then about 30 miles of back roads. Nothing fell off, overheated or puked out of it, so maybe I'm close to making the drive to Bowling Green!
I'll spend next weekend checking it over one last time, clean it up and be ready to hit the road. Can't wait!! I need a vacation!!

Sure makes for a better day when nothing goes wrong. Have you decided whether or not you are going to drive and race, drive only, or race only.

How long is the trip Jim? Do you have someone following in a "chase" car just in case? Take some Pepcid before you leave, it'll help prevent developing a "stress ulcer" along the way.

As of today the plan is to drive it up. Should be several of us running together....another C-2 with a 327 and a Doug Nash 5 speed, a C-3 with an EFI 454 and Tremec and a C-3 with a 540 and a Tremec. No othe chase vehicles. We're going to see how lucky we are!
I'm actually in Nashville this week for meetings. Weather is great, sure hope it holds out for next week!

Jim, will you be able to go 80-85mph with us? I think you have pretty tall gears, yes?
Also, Nick and me will have family radios to chat. Do you have one also? I also have a handheld CB I'll bring so if you have a CB we can keep in contact that way. The CB is usefull for monitoring the truckers. They always know about speed traps ahead.

That all sounds good. It's nice to hear that it is running well. I'm looking forward to seeing that monster in person. Are you staying at the Hampton? When are you guys leaving and are you hooking up in Dallas or at some point further down the road?
Zwede, I didn't know you were going. That's cool, I'm looking forward to meeting you in person. We will have to compare notes on our EFI.

Re: Put 150 miles on today "practicing" for CIV!!! (burners)
Yeah, we need to make some kind of plan on how we're driving up there. Burners: are you going in the caravan too? Cool. I think it is up to Jim to decide when he can be here (Dallas). We could also meet up in Texarkana or something if that makes it easier for him. Jim?
