Stereo install in a '71 C3?
I am in the process of restoring my '71 and want to put a decent stereo in it. I do not want to cut any holes in it so I want to use a shaft style deck. Not a whole lot of them around. Any suggestions on where to find one? Also, any suggestions about the total install? Thinking about 4x6 plates in the front and 6 1/2" components in the rear in custom boxes. Probably run a small amp and a changer in one of the storage bins. Anyway thanks!

Keep the stock radio over a custom auto sound. The custom radios do not look stock. Not much difference in the sound.
I bought a used bezel and cut it. Still have the stock parts. New bezels are only about $80.
You can get a good din radio and changer for the price of the custom auto sound and hide it.
Just my opinion.

Buy a used bezel and cut it! Even the best 2-**** radios are not worth the money. A DIN radio is the way to go.....also just my $0.02!

Had a Kenw. that died. During an interior re-build. R&R'd radio. CustomAuto, not impressed! But didn't want extra Stuff crammed on the rear deck. Have a '71. 2 speakers in the dash. <'71 had 2 spkrs in the kick panels. Added the 6/4 kick spkrs with new 6/4 under the dash. Seperation is not bad, nice sound. Still not happy with the CustomAuto tapeplayer, but radio sounds good.

After looking around alittle I figured out the same thing. Just get a spare dash and cut it. Thanks for the advice! I am planning on putting some 6x9's in the back in boxes and 4x6's in the dash. Gonna put a 4 channel amp in one of the storage bays as well. Probably a changer later on.

it's my opinion that a 4-ch amp without subwoofers is just not needed... especially with an aftermarket head unit... you would just have too much high, and not enough thump... my kenwood without an amp puts out an adequate amount for my 6x9s and 4x6s... it's just not worth it with that type of setup in my opinion... the added complexity would outwiegh the benefit...
