OT: Hey folks in Austin TX
Greetings!
My wife and I want to move to the Austin area. Trouble is, we don't know anyone. Any thoughts? Any rural towns around Austin worth checking? I want to be able to drive my 64 year round! Wisconsin SUCKS!
I'm serious - I'm a marketing consultant and would like to do some biz down there - vette people are the best - can you help?

Get on a plane and take a vacation! There's plenty to do and see...you won't be disappointed. And don't forget to visit San Antonio while you're down this way!

Some of the best cruising roads in the country, IMHO. I live in San Marcos, about 20 minutes south of Austin. Ranch Road 12 out of San Marcos up through Wimberley to Dripping Springs is one of my favorite drives. Also TONS of vetters in this area. I'm willing to be that more forum members live in the Austin/San Antonio area than any other comparable area in the US. Some excellent car shows as well.

I'm a couple of hours away from Austin but make several business trips a year. Austin is growing rapidly. Areas to the north and west are where I see the most growth and housing developments. Dripping Springs, Georgetown, Round Rock are worth checking out. Fredricksburg is a neat place but farther away. When you look at a Texas map just remember the scale is very different from other states and the distances are greater. Check out the regional discussion board. You can hook up with several Austin area guys there.

Great place to own a classic vette...Lots of great roads to drive on and nice scenery. July/August your car won't see a lot of time though, but I guess coming from where you are you only get 3 months of summer it will be an improvement. Tech economy is picking back up here as well. if you are a marketing consultant you'll want to get involved in the local ch of the AMA. I am involved in it as well as local corvette clubs...
