Default Trans/Shifter Problem - PLEASE help!

While I was driving all of a sudden, the shifter sort of "fell loose"
I can get it into 3rd and 4th (the 2 gears on the right side of the gate)

but not 1st, 2nd or reverse AT ALL - it just falls loose all the way back when you take it out of 3rd or 4th...

I took it all apart to see down in there but cant really tell what happened - cant really see anything too well...

Any ideas before I drive in 3rd and 4th all the way to the shop?

Is the 1-2 arm still on the tranny? did the jam nuts come loose. If not you'll have to remove the side cover.I had the shift arm inside the tranny twist off once. Same thing only 3-4th gears.

Yeah the 1-2 arm is there and seems fine when I wiggle it - same with the reverse arm..

Sounds like a similar problem - can you give me any step by step to try and fix it from the top?

Thanks very much!
Mike

Do you have the boot off the shifter? The arms must not be moving. I looked back and see you don't have rev either. You must have something wrong with your shifter itself. Look down and see whats happening and let me know.

-there is a center pivot pin that can come out. take off the outer boot and the the lower boot. you will see the pivot pin or bolt. the pin is just in with a C clip. Mine fell out and that's how the shifter felt.
