No dash lights on my 73
Any thoughts on why I don't have any working dash lights on my 73? A coworker mentioned something about fiberoptics going bad on these cars.

Re: No dash lights on my 73 (Custum73)
Can I look under the dash and see the grounds or do I have to pull apart the dash at all first?
I just got this vette a couple weeks ago, my first, so bare with me if the questions seem basic.

Pull lower duct down and then you can see them GO REAL EASY on pulling the duct out. There will be a black pigtail on speedo and on tach.

Ok, I'll give it a try tonight. There are no lights on the center cluster either. I was initially hoping it was just a fuse. I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet and was just trying to get some other ideas before I dug into it.
Thanks

Sound like the headlight switch to me. The odds that all 3 of your grounds on the tach, speedo, and center console are bad is low. Just went through this on my GTO. You probably have corrosion on your headlight switch.

I have never done either. It's not an easy area to get to. If you do a search, there should be some information on removing or replacing the switch, and this still may not be the problem!

Before tearing anything out just turn the **** for the headlight switch from left to right to make sure the dash lites aren't turned off.

I was able to just use some elec contact cleaner and clean the green corrosion off the rheostat the lights began to work. Getting to the headlight switch is not a fun experience so I hope it is a fuse or something else. Custum 73, let me know if you have exhausted everything else and I can help you get to the headlight swithc as I just took my dash out to replace tach.

how did you go about acessing the reastat to use the electrical contact cleaner? my lights on my 73 go off and on while i rotate the dimmer , i also must have ''dirty contacts'' to make the lights go on and off ..---------
