I know many forum members have these, i have the 4x6 6402cfp reference series and am having problems with them sitting in the holes. what have you done to make them fit. It seems like that weird gasket type foaming need to be cut but i dont know how or where to begin.

I have the Infinity Kappa 4x6 plates and I don't remember having any issues. I'm not sure how different our dash panels are though.

You have speaker brackets right? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2477749956

Speakers should attach to these (I had a little difficulty, had to drill out the holes in the mounting plate a little) then the bracket fits up into the dash (slightly tight) and screws in.

Dunno if our speakers are identical, but definitely similar. Hope this helps some.

No chris i dont have the speaker brackets, they must only be for pre 78 cars. I have a 79 and the speakers were mounted straight to the dash pad. Where ever there is a screw or whatever there is this thick material about an inch and a half in diameter for the screw to go into. I believe that since my magnet is offset to one side rather, than right in the middle like stock, that the magnet is hanging up on this material. Should i cut it? can it be cut? what should i use to cut?

Funny you just posted this. I am redoing my interior.. bought a new dash assy.. and got the same speakers after researching the forum and seeing that no one seemed to have any problems installing them.. Low and behold, I can't seem to make them fit easily without cutting. granted this is on a repo dash assy, but it's not even installed in the car yet!! At minimum I'll have to cut part of the dash support under the speaker, but now I'm worried about it fitting once I put the dash in the car..

Multifast1: I have half of my dash apart (and my dash might be different than yours) but if you want to come up and take a look at mine, I live at 9 Mile and Farmington Rd. I'll be in the garage most of the weekend. Drop me an IM and I'll give you my phone #.

I don't have the same speakers but I did just get finished moving mine to the kick panel area. used some speaker baffles from crutchfield behind them. Not a perfect fit but good enough and I believe they sound better down there. Seems to me that they sound cheesy in the dash. I also replaced the kick panels with non carpeted new ones. :hurray:

my wife has Infinity's up front; but I can't remember the model number. They were actually easy to install in her 1973 dash. Obviously they are lacking in bass response; but I placed a small powered sub-woofer in the rear compartment and it sounds amazing for what we have invested in it..

I have pioneer 4X6's in the front dash, a set of sony 4X6's in the kick panels, and a set of Rockford Fosgate 6X9's in the rear. The rears had to have custom brackets and mounting boards built, but the front all fit right in there.

I was able to "massage" the driverside into its position and put the cover over top but the passenger side doesnt like my manly touch, guess ill ask the girlfriend to give it a shot.
