Default fuel pressure guage needle has jump

Is it normal for the fuel pressure guage needle to jump? I have one installed in my braded line on a 750 dp holley and the needle jumps quite fast from aprox. 6 to 8 psi.
thanx wade

you know, I've got a Speed Demon 650 on my small block with the same thing happening. One day I adjusted the carb up a bit and it smoothed out, now it does it again. Car runs great, dont know what to do about the needle.

For the small mechanical types that are just air filled - yes. Just average the reading. And for most carbs within a 1 psi should be okay. You really just want to know is press is way too high or is zero (gone).
The small liquid filled gauges remain steady but have an internal heating/pressure problem as the eng comp heats up. The liquid gauges are sealed and cannot equalize the pressure unless someone opens the little rubber fill plug on top to equalize press and take a reading. ;)
