1978 L48 HEAD FLOWS
WHAT ARE THE SPECS. FOR FLOW AT DIFFERENT LIFTS ETC. HOW MUCH WOULD A BASIC POCKET PORT AND 3 ANGLE VALVE JOB IMPROVE

Unless you are doing it yourself I would not waste the $ on it, get some aftermarket heads that flow better. The Vortec heads are great for the $ but you will also need a new vortec intake. Or even look for some alum L98 vette heads, can be had pretty cheap on E-Bay or even over in the C4 parts section.

I've got right at 800.00 in a set of stock heads and they still are not any better than a set of 950.00 Edelbrock heads, just heavier.

3 angle valve job will only noticeably improve flow at high RPMs.

If you are going to change heads, I would go with an aftermarket DART, Edelbrock, Trickflow, etc, instead of better GM head. I know this because I put DART heads on my SB 406 on my boat and the perf jump was awesome. After I smoked the engine in a Poker run at 5300 rpm, I just went cheap and put some GM heads with 2.02/1.60 valves thinking since they were the same size valves and chambers as DART the perf would be the same...wrong.
