Default damper puller

anyone know where to get one of those cheap? Just that foot like plate and the threaded rod. I was looking at summit but they have all kinds of fancy pullers/installers for way over 100$. No way am I gonna pay that. I broke my old one and can't seem to find a new one here with the slots at the appropriate angles (they are Y shaped but the 3 legs are asymmetrically spaced on the ones they have here...they're actually brake drum pullers for small cars).

Thanks,

Marck

I know you aren't in the states, but any local auto parts store around here has them cheap. I think I paid less than $20 for mine.

The puller is no problem to make. If you buy a correct crank size grade 8 bolt about 15 cm long. Then just take flat 12.5 mm mild steet stock and cut a damper size round disk and drill 3 holes in it that line up with the threaded holes on the damper. The center hole has to be tapped to the size of the larg crank bolt.

Just e-mail me your address. I've got sepperate puller and installer units. We have a local place called Harbor frieght tools and I could get them cheap and mail them to you.

I just mailed some things to Austria the other day.

I had been thinking about making my own but buying one is faster and I can't seem to find the proper length of threaded stud here (the hardware store only has short stuff). If you could go to HF for me that'd be awesome, do you have paypal? That makes paying so much easier. Sending a MO is a terrible hassle.

I got one at Auto Zone. If you use the pointed tip, make sure you put a correct sized washer to protect the crank threads. Ask me how I know.

Marck, I am sure they have these tools somewhere close to you. This tool is also used to pull off pulleys and fans from the shafts on heating and cooling equipment (in various sizes). It's got a lot of uses, I am sure someone close to you sells them.

dampener
So why is it fluiddampr and not fluiddampenr???? But it actually is a harmonic balancer. Do a search on jegs, summit, moroso, competition products..whatever. They all say damper puller/install tool.

AC, they do have the tools but all of them have the slots at the wrong angle, I looked at so many of them I almost got dizzy :)

bejeebus! $100 for a friggin' balancer yanker? That's ridiculous. I just saw a stack of them at my local flea market going for $15 a pop complete with all the bolts and other thingies. I was going to offer to get one and mail it to ya, but it looks like you're already covered in that respect. It's good to see Corvette brothers pull together across the world like this.

 All you need to install one is a long bolt, a nut, and a stack of washers

Not saying you have to buy one just stating that those have the installer too. The installer is a stud with a ball bearing washer so it is less likely to strip the snout threads, which I have some experience with. :bb I just get the loaner installer from the local parts store when I put them on now.

You bottom out a (long) bolt in the snout first then use a nut and washer stack on said bolt to spin down the balancer. You're not stressing the snout threads that way.
