Big Block in my 1981 C3
I am seeking some information, I have a 81 Silver/blue Vette with a 4 speed and love it. Problem is I also love Cubic Inches, the more the better. No replacement for displacement :) I know im crazy for wanting to do it, But i want to put a 454 in my vette. Two problems pop into mind, the front springs (not sure i can afford alimunim heads) and hood clearance. Has anyone ever done this? I am running of the assumption that the basic frame is the same for 68-82 models. so if i get headers meant for a 74, they should work. (there is no emmissions where i live) just wondering i this is workable.
Thanks
Thanks

You can cut down Ford F-series truck springs, I run .75" wire diameter but you may want to use slightly smaller, perhaps from a F-150. I am sure the junk yards in Texas are full of them.

It'd be better to put a large displacement small block in. Plus you get to retain the handling and weight transfer.

A aluminum headed BB weighs within a 100lbs of a a iron small block. There are PELNTY BB on the local road course, hell a '68 BB won Le Mans in '72.
