Question on Engine size for '82
Looking to find a garage that will put in a crate engine for me. I was thinking about a 350 330 HP, but after speaking with a shop said that there would be too many modifications for that engine. Spoke with another garage and he suggested a ZZ383 that would be perfect fit, but says that he will charge $1500.00 to swap out engines. Does this seem expensive? What would be a good engine that will fit into a '82? Any suggestions?

Just about any small block crate motor will work, you will be limited on power with the crossfire setup. but that can be overcome too.
Go look around the crossfire forum, and you will see lots of great people playing with the CFI.

The cost doesn't seem outrageous to me. Especially if the mechanic can properly set up the Crossfire system so you can pass your next emissions test... :yesnod:

just swapping to a 383 will not be enough, with the CFI system the engine will be even more choked than it already was. For the 383 you will need to do something about the fuel delivery (larger injectors & tuning the ECM/aftermarket ECM/Promintor....) and you will want to do something to the throttle bodies and the manifold, or replace manifold (options depending on emissions laws)
