Heat Insulation Blankets
I have a 75 with the L48 engine..all stocl and original. The heat insulation blanket on the underside of the hood needs to be replaced. Other than the originality issue, how important/functional is this insulation blanket, and, what could be the ramifications of NOT replacing it. Thanks in advance!

Re: Heat Insulation Blankets (captras)
I'm not sure mine ever had one. I've had it 32 years and don't remember seeing one on there. My paint doesn't seem the worse for the wear either, although I alway garage it...

Mine has been off now for over 15 years and I've had no problems with paint or fiberglass. I think it was mostly for sound deadening.

Should have no probs without one...
and I hear that the replacements aren't original specs?...I've heard others grumbling about them...
