Default Transmission leak at speedo cable hookup?

Hi Guys,

My 74's automatic transmission started leaking sometime ago. Fluid is all over the place, but I can see it dripping from the speedo cable. Could it be coming from there? Is there some type of seal at the speedo cable connection that should be replaced? If so, is it easy to replace? And who sells it?

Thanks in advance!

It is a easy fix. I don't think that you will be able to get th o-rings from GM like one could years ago. What I did was visit a transmission shop that actually repairs and rebuilds automatics and was given the spare o-rings I needed. Pretty easy repair if you can get the parts. I believe you will need only two o-rings to stop the leak.

Jimmie,

Thanks for your reply. I hope that's really the only problem with the transmission---it sounds easy enough to fix. Do you think I can get the seals from Napa or other autoparts stores?

Thanks,
-Pedro
