If you bought if from a vendor; just return it for credit/money back.

If you bought if from an individual you need to carefully discuss it with him. If he is honest you won't have problem. If he is dishonest, then you have learned another hard lesson in life. :)

I will send it to you to look at if you want.
I bought it from a member of this bord.
I put 3 hours in installing it and it didnt work.
The Fuse block is rusty to.

I guess I would return it and get your money back if you are certain something else is not causing your problem. 150 is a very reasonable price for one that is still good, especially when you start pricing new ones.

You have a good point.
What would it cost to fix it?
I do know it needs a new fuse block. It wont mate up to the engine or headlight harnesses.
There is no contact between them.
The outer contact to the other harnesses fit, there is just no contact.
The block that goes through the firewall is melted in a lot of places.

I doubt you will be able to fix those (melted) kind of problems unless you can come up with another harness to be a parts doner. Lectric Limited lists your dash harness for $415. Have you tried Gary Gruhala? Perhaps he might be able to come up with a used one? http://www.angelfire.com/mo2/GruhalaEnterprises

:iagree: It is difficult to replace the fuse box. If you go this route I would get a decent harness from a junkyard 70's big car and put one together with the Vette specific wires added. That being said, in your situation I would ask for a refund.

If you plan on replacing the entire harness with a new one you might as well go for something like a Painless Wiring system. They have a lifetime warranty and it would make for a good upgrade to your electrical system.

and BTW, I would DEFINITLY try to get my money back. It had a melted block??? I would never have even tried to install it.

There are some connectors missing, the most notable, the three wire connector for the radio. Some bulb connectors are also missing. The radio connector may be a hard one to find, unless you can get a harness that's totally scrap and scavage the needed connectors. Try Dipping the Fuse box in some vinegar for a short time. The corrosion didn't appear to be severe, just surface rust. I'm thinking one hour should be sufficient to rid the surface corrosion, but check every 15 minutes.

In teh meantime, I'll check here to see if anyone has a line on a scrap harness just for the connectors and/or a source for new connectors

Is yours for an 82?? If so, it's different from all other years with injector fuses, a fuel pump fuse and other stuff in different places. Since they are 1 year only they are even more expensive and I'm not sure if they are available without maybe sending the old harness for donor parts.

Are you certain you didn't melt it yourself by having stuff hooked up incorrectly?

You know, it just isn't right for someone to sell a "usable" harness with melted connectors unless they stated so.

I may have some '68 electrical pieces that are not part of an entire harness. Let me know exactly what you need to make yours work and I see what I've got. I also have a complete dash harness that is in nice condition---maybe we could trade out(plus a few bucks for the one I have), and get you going? Please advise, G.
