Default Shifter Throw Question

A Corvette knowledgeable mechanic pointed out 2 holes on the tranny linkage that are closer to the ground than the stock setting. He said that if I moved the links to these holes, the shifter throw would be shorter than the full row that currently have.

Has anyone done this? How much shorter? How's it feel? Any downside?

Thanks.

Do it. Well worth the effort.

:iagree:
I have mine in the short throw holes too. Very nice. The shift effort may be a bit higher, but it's not a problem at all. I would never put it back to the standard holes.

Does anyone have a picture to explain how to change. I feel a little challenged here.
I'd like to try it.

So, if I change to the short holes I would guess that means the linkage would have to be adjusted? :chevy

Yes, the guy said there is some adjusting.

We're talking about the rods that hook onto the vertical arms that come out of the tranny. These rods have a threaded end at the joint where they connect to the vertical arms. If you have a long throw, the rods are attached at the very top of the vertical arms.

Half way down the vertical arms is a hole. You disconnect the rods from the top of the vertical arm and connect them to this lower hole. In doing that, you need to move the connector along the threaded end of the rod. He said you make the adjustment with the car in neutral.

With the car on a lift, it looks fairly simple. I'm probably going to do it, and let you know how it goes.
