Default Timing sets

Roller or double roller timing sets.

Really worth double the cash as a normal link one?

Not really necessary. But not a bad setup however. A word of caution, some inexpensive so caller double roll timing chain sets are NOT true roller setups. Colyes is one of a few that does have one however. Anything below 60 bucks could be suspect. A point for not using one is that none of the GM high HP engines such as L88`s and LS7`s with over 12-1 compression are equiped from the factory with one. And those engines are over 550 HP right out of the box.

If the single has steel rather than the stock nylon teeth I would answer no. The doubles are not necessary for normal driving.
