what to look for when buying a c3?
I'd like to get a late 60's but at this point my budget only allows a mid to late 70's. My questions is what potential problem areas should I be looking for when shopping for one? What are common problems? Also, do you have to do any modifications to put a 454 in a c3 newer than '74 or would it slip right in?
TIA!
TIA!

Hi Salty, scroll down on this page for "Mechanics Inspection..." links. There are 3 of them for stuff to look for on a C3. Quite extensive. http://www.corvettefaq.com/listing.asp?group=6
Lotsa folks here have swapped in a big block in their 74+ Vette.
good luck!

Welcome to the forum. The Corvettefaq list is a good one, I'd definitely start there. When you get ready to look at a car or two, I'd post here and ask if any of the Austin vetters would like to come along & take a look with you. I've gone on a couple of these, and brother, we put those suckers through the fine tooth comb treatment. There are a lot of us in the Austin area, and it's fun to have an excuse to crawl all over somebody's vette. :D
Flynhi (Will Shepard) is one of the forum members in Austin I've done a car look-over with (I'm actually down in San Marcos). Real nice guy--you might want to drop him a line when you get serious about a car and want some advice.
