A/C....Remanufactured or New....Differences?
I am about the purchase an A6 compressor and noticed ZIP selling both remanufactured and new compressors. Other than the price, what are the major differences and/or advantages between the two. AND, if I purchase the "NEW" compressor....how can I tell the difference.....THANKS!

Rebuilt or remanufacture A/C compressors are know to be junk. Most last just past the 90 day warranty and then blow up putting all sorts of debris into you A/C system.. Get a new one and enjoy your A/C.

I have had three rebuilt chrome A6 Compressors recently. They were all bad. :(

I've had a rebuilt R4 compressor running for 2 years now. I guess the difference is that you're more likely to run into problems with a reman unit than a new one. And it seems that any of these chrome components (alternators, compressors, water pumps, etc.) have an even higher likelihood of failure.

I just ordered a AC/Delco one from Auto Zone for my 75 Vette. It should be in tomorrow.

I didn't mess around, took my 78 to Chevy dealer and had them replace compressor with new a/c delco. Was well worth the money works great and got rid of old type freon.

Also.... When a compressor siezes it usually send all sorts of crap though the system and if you don't get it all out the new compressor will fail very quickly due to the debris in the system. One more reason to get a new one.
