Default Hooker Sidepipes: Do yours make a mess?

Mine condense and shoot black condensate everywhere and drip puddles of black water on the floor.

The mixture is about right on the car, maybe a little on the rich side.

Does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it?

That happens if the car sits outside overnight... As long as I keep the car inside - it won't happen because no condensate builds up...

The only time mine ever does that is if I have it running in the garage for a while. Like when I'm adjusting the idle mixture/speed or timing. It would have to sit there idling and doing a bit of revving up for at least 20 minutes or so though. Even then the 'puddles' are very small (1 inch accross).

All the Best! :steering:

Steve. I just started mine after it's winter nap, and no black soot but I have condensation. 2 inch puddles. No big thing..........."Sounds great", but I'm partial....... :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:

I had a set of hookers on my vette years ago with the glasspack insert mufflers. Within a few years both sides of my pipes rusted through where the mufflers sat. I'm a firm believer that the glasspacks trapped and retained the condensation causing this especially when driven on short trips.

:iagree: same thing happened to me. would rather have the drip then have the pipes rust out. It used to get pretty expensive to replace every year. robert

I can't remember the post, (been a while and probably a senior moment), but there was a setup to push fresh air through the AIR injectors to keep this guy's stock exhaust from rusting out on a '68. Should be simple to duplicate. My sidepipes (not Hookers but similar) have 'packs in them and steam when I fire up and run in winter, but that's it.
