Default Trouble blowing fuses when my AC is turned on? Need a little help, please.

I can run my AC without blowing fuses when I disconect my wire that goes to the tempurture sensor or the idle controller on my carburator. I have voltage to my idle controller when doing this, but not to my compressor. Is this normal? When I unattach the wiring that goes to my valve on the AC line I have voltage there, but there is no voltage coming out of the unit when plugged in. Is this a low on free-on issue? Where do I go from here? The compressor was turning on and then the fuse would blow, but no power there now. I would appreciate any help on this issue. Thanks, Lon
