Replacement Over the Shoulder Seat Belt Help
I can't find any from any Corvette Dealer! My 81's interior is getting redone from a burnt faded red/orange to black and I have no seat belts to match.
Advice/Help please?
Also, do anyone know if just over the lap seat belts are legal in Texas?

Re: Replacement Over the Shoulder Seat Belt Help (Scorn)
I got mine from a seatbelt company called ...now I cannot remember...Starts with A though...Andover Restraints.
The shoulder belts for mine new (not NCRS but correct clips etc) for about $120 a piece. For a 70 you need lap belts as well but they should have them.
They have lots of years give them a try otherwise check out late camaro seatbelts at a junkyard I heard they work and ar cheap...

I am on the same road as you. I just changed my 81 interior to black. Same problem, all the belts I found were very expensive, even used. I found some seat belt material (50ft roll) that I will be ordering soon. I will have plenty extra if you need some. I found a shoe repair place local that is willing to sew them for me. I will try this route and let you know how it comes out.

The Camaro belts that people are using work out well - and cheap.
They would look even more at home in a late C3.

I used the Camaro belts in my 74. The biggest problem I encountered was the belts come in grey, and I had to dye to tan. A little cutting and trimming, and they're in and looking good.

Re: Replacement Over the Shoulder Seat Belt Help (Vmo)
Hey VMO, when you did yours did you go from grey to a darker color? I am about to do the same thing and have the belts which are grey, but I need to die them silver. I was wondering if just spraying the lighter color over the older covered ok or if you somehow bleached yours out first.
Thanks and sorry for the sidetrack

I've got the same problem as well! The previous owner changed the interior from red to black. My wife was actually thinking of finding a way to die them in place??!! Has anyone tried this or should I tell my wife to stay away from the car!
On the flip side what is involved with changing out the seat belts?

I bought these. http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/p...word=seatbelts
I believe they're available in several colors.
The retractor is made to go over head rather than mount down behind the seat like a C3. Because of that the clasps are "upside down" when engaged. Soooo.....I felt they were about 10 or 12 inches too long anyway, so I cut them and had had a shoe repair shop resew things back together in the corrrect orientation. The mount bolt hole in the retractor mechanism had to be enlarged about 1/16 inch to use the stock bolt.

Just finishing my 80 interior from doeskin to black. I pulled the webbing out, then pinned a large saftey pin at the end to keep from coiling back in. Soaked the webbing in a bucket of hot water with 2 bags of black rit fabric dye in it. Then rinsed off with cold water. They look real good now.

I also did the Camaro belt conversion. It came out pretty good. I found tan ones that matched my interior, which was a bonus.
Do a Forum search and you'll find a lot on this. I posted pics of mine last year.

95 Firebird belts here. One of my favorite mods, only $50.

Re: Replacement Over the Shoulder Seat Belt Help (74 vert)
I'm in the market for the f-body belts also. But I have a question, I bought my car without seat belts, so I don't really know exactly how they mount. How does the install differ in an 80 compared to an early shark?
