Default 73-75 front clips

I'm fitting a 73 with a 75 front clip and was just wondering if you guys know what the differences are in them. The clip fits on no problem, but the fenders overlap the doors by a little bit. I don't think i'm doing anything wrong, but it seems like i've got an extra inch of front clip on the car, even with the front clip adjusted all the way foreward. Does anyone know what differences there are between a 73 front clip and a 75? THanks, Mike

It probably is not the clip, but may be the bumper support. You can loosen the four bolts on each side of the support (the one with the vacuum manifold built in) and pull it forward. People also call this the header bar. If your car was hit like mine it may have been moved back. There is probably 1" of adjustment you can get out of that. The distance between the back edge of the hood drip rail and the back hood hinge bolt should be 43", I'm pretty sure. I will check and update this if it is incorrect. Let me know if you need anything else.

my car was hit in the front like yours at one time. When the front clip went on, I had difficulty even getting the bolts through the header bar into the frame. I'll try pulling it foreward like you said and let you know what happens. If all else fails i can always take a cutoff wheel to the ends of the fenders, but i'd hate to do that.

I don't think I would cut the fender at all. If you are 1" short on the front end and cut it to fit, you will affect how and if the hood lines up with the latches and cowl.
I checked the dimension I gave you before and I was wrong. It is 43" from the rear hood hinge bolt hole to the FRONT of the drip rail on the firewall. I have part of the Eckler's book in a Word document that I can email you that shows the installation of a front end. Email me at: vetteboy1976@hotmail.com
if you want it.

I don't think there is any dimesional difference at all.
The most notable difference would be the front bumper and support.

You should be able to jockey it into place after loosening the parts discussed
above. Of course .. you should already know that there are 3 bolts on each
side of the bumper bracket/frame extension. One gets hidden under the
bumper bracket.

Just check my ZIP catalog ... the outer bumper brackets (brace) are different
part numbers for 73-4 and 75. Not sure of the difference.

When I put the 75 front clip on my 70 chassis/rear clip - II used all the front
support hardware from the 75.
