Windshield Wiper Motor
All,
I posted awhile ago about some crap under my hood.
As everyone suspected, it was an aftermarket alarm system.
Well, I yanked it all out. Much better without. :yesnod:
The only problem is, now when I turn on the wiper, the motor just clicks.
I've only had the car a month and only turned them on 1 time to test.
The previous owner may have had the alarm wired into the wiper wiring for power.
Can anyone tell me an easy way to test the motor? Anyone tell me how it should be wired?
Thanks.

Re: Windshield Wiper Motor (79-L-82)
Make sure you don't have the positive and negative wiring reversed. If it's clicking you are probably getting power, so it doesn't sound like a bad ground. I bought the wiring diagram from Corvette Central. It shows how the car should be wired. Hope this helps.

YOur '79 wiper motor is wired like any other GM car of that era....
make sure the motor frame is grounded, it's a black wire, alone on a push tab on the motor frame, on my '72 anyway...that black wire joins the heater motor and hi speed relay to connect down hear the starter motor, with a 3/8 loop on it, frequently connected to the battery post + wire by error.....
the yellow is allways hot,...the other two wires...blue or black I forget, go to the wiper switch/controlls....

Re: Windshield Wiper Motor (69driver)
Thanks,
I'll look it over this weekend to see if it is reversed.
I'll also check the other suggestions. . .
