C3 Vette Body Repair/ Prep for paint
I own a '71 C3 vette that was a basket case when I bought it. I have slowly been restoring and am now up to body work and prepping for paint. Anyone have any direction as to whether or not it is a good idea to take the body down to the glass in preparation for paint? Also, I have been using Dynatron Dynaglass to do body repairs. Has anyone had bad results with using the Dynaglass? anyone with comments/suggestions? :chevy

Here's a good starting point by Lars from the corvettefaq site, there are others on painting there so check it out.

Yes I would strip it down to bare glass. Why put expensive paint on top of an old unstable surface? As far as Dynaglass, I would not use it to repair cracks. I would only use resin and mat. Good Luck on your job. Craig

definitely strip it down to the glass...if you want your body to looks smooth, do body work on the seams...this totally helps a killer paint job stand out.
