And speaking of C3 power steering...
I'm still trying to find my way around this '73 I bought a few weeks ago. The P.O. removed the power steering, but after just a few drives, I'm pretty sure I want it back.
So since I'm sitting on ground-zero, would y'all think that I'm better off buying new/rebuilt parts to put the original type power-assist system back on the car, or go with the steeroids system? The few posts I've been following about the steeroids seem to indicate that a few folks have had problems with the install. Also, just for the sake of argument, let's say that the company making the Steeroids system goes out of business. Is the "rack" a stock part from somewhere else that can be rebuilt, or if it fails, are we SOL? At least I know that someone will always have aftermarket stock Corvette parts.
I'm not a "performance driver" by any definition, so if the C3 handles like a C4, that's nice, but unnecessary for me. (I have a Z51 that already goes around corners like a little old lady is driving it.) But It's also been a long time since I've driven a C3 with power steering so I'm a little fuzzy on just how "bad" the stock setup is.
So what's the consensus? Go back to stock or Steeroids?
Thanks, Tom

Re: And speaking of C3 power steering... (tpiini)
Hey! You helped me. Now I get to help you...
When I bought my car, the PS was not working. And I lived with it like this for two years. Then, I couldn't take it anymore. IMHO, going with Steeroids, given the cost and issues others have had, did not make it worth it.
I now have PS and I'm happy I do. But it's not perfect. Cheaper? Yes. Better than manual? Heck yes. But the feel is still sloppy off center, and can be a little scary at speed (might need a new ragjoint).
So my vote is to go with stock PS.

IMHO the type of steering used in our cars is old fashioned junk...
fair at best...
i installed Steeriods about a year ago and all i can say is that i personaly will NEVER own another C3 without Steeriods...
with it...my car drives and steers like a brand new "modern day" automobile...
i find it to be simply awesome...

:withstupid: Steeroids! Steeroids! Steeroids!
I just came home from an 80-90 mph run down the freeway (sorry, Officer). And the whole way I only used thumb and forefinger to hold the wheel. :yesnod:
If you're real nice, they may let you in on the latest group purchase!

Thanks for the quick responses. I've been (very impatiently) waiting for our house sale to close and was hopping to get into the Steeroids G.P., but it's not closing for a few more days now and I wasn't willing to spend money I didn't have yet.
I really like the Steeroids idea, but I'm looking at so many posts from folks with installation problems that I'm starting to wonder...
I'll keep lurking and hope for another G.P. to pop up.

look...there are always going to be a few naysayers...
fact is that MOST (by a large margin) that have installed it love it...
again...just my opinion...

I frogged around with trying to rebuild my 81's system with some rebuild kits but being all thumbs pretty well frogged it up. I then got rebuilt parts from Muskegon Brake and got a four-wheel alignment done. It was just like heaven! :blueangel: I loved their products and they also had great advice when I had to call to ask a question. I think it is the best bang for the buck. :smash:
