strut rods
I have a 69 and i am rebuilding the rear suspension. is their a certain way the strut rods go in? Mine seem to be slightly curved and i wanted to check whether the curve should go up or down? thanks

The strut rods are supposed to be straight. There should be no curve in them. What happened is that at one point some one bent your strut rods to align the rear end. :mad

Someone, who tried to align the rear at some point, bent them. Check for wear in axle yokes, spring, and bushings. Some place heat them and straigthen them. I'd rather replace them. The original were the small heads type, the larger head strut rods cameout in '75 and as a service replacement. You can use them but be sure they don't bind the bearign housing at extreme angle. I clarence the housing a little bit so this doesn't happen. I think the aftermarket now makes the small head rods, there are also welded rods on the market. Instead of being cast, drill rod is welded to round tubing the size of the small rod heads. As long as the weld is good they should be as strong as the cast. I don't use the adjustable ones, I'd rather fix the problem and use the original style. Your choice, good luck.
