chrome bumper owners: I need info for assembly
I am getting ready to asseble the frame extensions, bumper braces, rad support,ect....and I want to know if there is a specific order i should do this in, and also if there are any tricks or tips for getting everything lined up and adjusted. I bought a new rad support, and it came with some shims, but I do not know wher to use them. I think they are meant to go along the sides of the support, but the support fits tightly in it's space, I do not see where the shims would go. Another thing I am looking for are replacement washers for the frame extensions and bumper braces, the orginal ones were serrated to bite into the metal to limit movement, I can't seem to find them anywhere. Any help is appreciated!

I have another question: does the rad suport bolt directly down to the front x member with no kind of shims under it?

It seems like my rad support had some really big shims under it. It has been a long time ago. Hopefully someone will refresh me.

I'm far from an expert, but if the support fits tight between the inner fenders, no shims are needed. But if your hood alignment on the sides is too tight, those shims will help move the fenders out "a little". I would bolt up the support to the crossmember first. The support should be securely bolted tight to that cross member then see if shims are needed for the fenders. Fortunatly my new support fit like a glove. No shims needed anywhere.
