Default It drives like a new car!

After more than a year and a half of chasing vibration problems in my 69, I dropped it off on Wednesday for repairs. I had the yoke and universal joints replaced and the transmission was dropped for a complete rebuild (gaskets, seals, bearings). While they were in there they found the reduction gear had a huge chip in second gear, so that was also replaced. As was my plan, I had the 69 vintage HURST shifter and all linkages replaced.

When I drove the car away from the shop, it felt like it would take off! No vibration and no slop in the shifter. I have been driving it nonstop for two days and am thrilled with the performance!!! Just had to tell somebody!!!

Happy in New Hampshire.

Glad to hear a success story! I have been chasing a vibration for 2 years and still don't have it solved. Hopefully someday I too will have a smile on my face like yours!!!!

It is wonderful to get rid of a vibration. I can't see how you lived with it for 2 years. By the way I lived in Lebanon, NH when I was young for about 1 1/2 years. Think it was around 73' & 74'. Beautiful country up there. Beautiful car too. :steering:

Although the car was originally Burgundy, the previous owner had it repainted several years before I bought it. He worked for a Chevy dealership and spotted a Pontiac (96 I think) on the lot sporting a metallic Burgandy and decided to go with that. When compared to remnants of the original color (door hinges), it looks pretty close to the base color, however the metal seems to brighten it up a bit, particulalrly in photos.

On that note, I am heading south for the day. It's going to be 80 degrees, and I am going to make up for lost time!
