I have a sudden invasion of adware that I think has hijacked my search engine to the point that I can't even find those websites. I think the spamware is redirecting my search away from those websites. Anyway, where can I get those free downloads? [ HELP!!!!!! ] :eek:

thanks guys! I have had this crap before on another computer. It just showed up here on my relatively new computer. It is horrible stuff - creates all kinds of popups and turns certain keywords into links. :( MJ

cleaned! :) How long did that take me? You can see what the spyware did to me in the first post! :eek: I didn't try to create links; all I did was use the words "adware" and "spyware" and the spyware turned those words into links. damn them to hell! :mad

Yeah, that stuff is a PITA!! Things got so bad that you could hardly go on-line with our family computer because of the constant interruptions by pop-ups triggered by this spyware. My son is always getting that stuff loaded on our family computer by visiting some of the gaming and file sharing sites. I'm constantly running Spybot S&D to get rid of it. PC Magazine voted Spybot one of the best programs of it's type and the best part is that it's shareware. I leave'em a donation when I download updates. They earn it. Anti-virus software should be the same way.

you guys might want to download hijackthis and cwshredder. The CWS (cool web search) is the most common and most annoying hijacker out there.

You might also want to dl spyware guard and spyware blaster. They are pretty nice to have and the guard will automatically alert when a BHO tries to change something, when the searcj or start pages are changed or when any InProc32 server key class is changed.

people, don't be fooled. AdAware misses a LOT of malware...a LOT!

Do get the spyware guard & blaster and the cwshredder as well as hijackthis. You can not rely on only adaware.

I will check out those programs...... I just hate adding software on top of software for the purpose of stopping bs software! know what i mean? I resisted running virus software for the longest time. My theory is that viruses are manufactured by the same people that sell you the virus software. I just NEVER opened any email attachment from anybody. :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss
