Default VDO center concole gauge install

I'm replacing my cheapo mechanical Sunpro gauges with VDO electric gauges. So far, I have the Fuel level, water temp, oil pressure, and volt meter. Total, it was about $150 for all of them.

I also have an Air/fuel meter that I was running previously, but I've determined that I'm not keeping it and will use it as a tuning tool only and not perminately mounting it. I'll have to find another VDO gauge to put there. It will probably be either a clock, vacuum, or oil temp. I would normally just put in the oil temp, but I already have the oil temp sending unit and I am going to use a switch to have the water temp gauge display either water temp or oil temp, so I really already have that.

Anyway, here is a pic:

The upper right gauge is the air/fuel gauge and it's not going back in. The VDO gauges fit perfectly. They fit recessed in the outer bezel taper and even retain the angle towards the driver.

I was completely suprised that these gagues fit the bezel so well with absolutely no modifications. Previously, I had mounted the gagues to the metal bracket (that I had to dremel a bit) which is bolted to the bezel, putting the gauges in the stock location behind the bezel. These are mounted to the bezel itself. Now I will still cut up the metal bracket which used to house the gagues, but that is just to put the lights and stuff back in and to house some "secret" switches I'm going to install.

The VDO gauges use a "spin-lok" mounting design. Basically, the rear (hidden) section of the gauge body is threaded and then a round plastic sleeve is screwed onto it from the back, clamping the gauge to the bezel. Sorry, I did not take any pics of the rear to show this.

The part numbers are:

Gauges:
Oil pressure: 350-104D
H20 temp: 310-105D
Fuel: 301-106D
Volt: 332-103D

Senders:
Oil pressure: 360-009D (1/8" NPT, has a 7psi warning contact I'm using as a safty switch for my electric fuel pump)
Oil pressure: 360-003D (1/8" NPT, no warning contact)
H2O Temp: 232-421D (3/8" NPT)
Oil Temp: 323-095D (1/8" NPT, This and the h2o temp will be switched to my temp gauge)

I found the most info on VDO gauges at: http://www.vdona.com/onlinecatalogs/...alCatalog.html
Then, I just plugged in the part numbers at Summit (ie. oil pressure gauge = vdo-350104D).

From the looks of your bezel it's an early '70's. The H2O temp is the important one to watch.
