68 corvette roadster question
My buddy has recently purchased a nice 68 Roadster. We were looking at the car and noticed that there was a lock on the back of the car that would normally be used to open a trunk. The real question is, since the roadster doesn't have a trunk....then what's the locking mechanism for???? We are baffled. Any Ideas?

Mark, you made me look at the '68 production figures with your statement above. Wow! I had no idea that so few '68's had the factory alarm system. Only 388 cars total in '68, but by '69 over 12,000 cars were equipped with the UA6 alarm option.
I wonder if it was a late addition to the option list in '68? What other reasons could there be for the disparity in numbers? Perhaps the '68's were stolen often, so that by '69 the dealers were advising buyers to order the alarm, and ordering it on the cars that they were placing in inventory?

No mention of it in the owners manual made me think that it was a late addition to the option list. Looking at the NCRS judging manual for 68-69, it states that the alarm option was introduced in May 1968. I guess that 'splains why so few were built.
