Engine Problems - Not Good
It makes a sound like it's missing and when I rev it up it makes a loud popping noise. Could something be lose inside the engine?
Thanks

Or it could be something as simple as a fouled plug, a bad carb. diaphram, blah blah. Always look for the simplest answer first!

Pull a breather cover off and rev the engine. If you have THAT kind of blowby, you should generate quite a bit of wind from the open breather.

Re: Engine Problems - Not Good (tpiini)
If I had a working oil pressure gauge:banghead: I would be able to tell for sure that I had a cracked piston. I'm going to take all the plugs out tomorrow and see if I can tell if oil has been shooting up.

Sounds like a broken rocker arm.
Pull the valve covers and check and see if one of the rockers is split on the bottom. (Where it pivots).

Re: Engine Problems - Not Good (dj_riddle06)
another possiblity is that u could have a worn cam. about 1 1/2 years ago my vette was acting up and starting to backfire/ idle rough. Also when i revved the engine or tried to go fast at all it made a loud high pitch popping noise that came out of the carb. after replacing the carb, intake manifold, distributor, plugs, and wires we finally decided to change the cam and that turned out to be the problem. hopefully its just something simple though

Mine did that and it was a cam lobe on the #6 exhaust valve, and lifter had a hole in the bottom of it. Have you noticed any drop in oil pressure?
Sorry. Hope that's not the reason for your problems. Easy to check once you have thei ntake off though.
I would try th eearlier mentioned fixes first though, just in case.
