Default I hate to see cars rot away.

May be a :_dupe: but I hate seeing any car rot. What a shame.

These 2 Vettes have been sitting in a yard in MA for over 20 years. The 68 Roadster is a 427/435 Tri-Power. The engine is laying in pieces in the garage. The coupe is a 71 350/300 4-speed. Both cars are in rough shape, they are not for sale and belong to an elderly woman.

:cry

Looks like a camaro on the opposite side of the vette. Camaro Convertible, ooohhh. And maybe an Avanti. Just a guess. A whole bunch of mess now though.

Seems silly don't it, hanging on to some old car in hopes the REAL owner will somehow return to do whatever.....

At least I rescued one from that state (well, a slightly better state as mine was always garaged).

Very sad, very common situation. These poor cars are rotting in every town in every state of the US. And probably a few foreign countries as well.

Whats that website???? http://www.carsinbarns.com

Talk to her??? Run her over with the car transporter and take those cars. They should have a similar law for cars as there is for mistreated pets and children :) :D

They were probably the love of her husband or son and she just can't let them go. When she dies hopefully someone will pick them up cheap and restore them.

Has anyone approached the lady? What would she want with old Vettes?

My boss knows of guy in Elgin, Il with (3) Hemi Challengers in his yard/garage. He apporached the guy and said he would not sell because of their worth. He asked if he was going to restore them and he said no. the cars of full of junk/newspapers, etc. He has had them now for years, and they continue to rot away, yet the guy won't sell. He doesn't realize they won't be worth much unrestored in salvage condition. My boss does ground up Mopar restores and would love to land these. He stops by this guy now and then, but the answer is always the same. What most likely will happen is the guy will die and his family will sell these in (10) minutes. :nopity

In some cities and counties they do. It's a junker law that makes it a fineable offense to maintain eyesores. If you check the local laws, you might find one that would help force a deceision, but beware as they apply to all cars not running for a lenght of time.
