Front Coil Spring Question on a '72 350 no AC
I'm rebuilding the front suspension, and I bought new shocks, spring, and bushings. I took the old springs out and they are almost 3 inches longer than the springs I got. The springs that were in are just over 15 inches long, and the ones that I bought are 12 inches.
Does anyone know how long the OE spring should be, and what the rating is supposed to be?

We took the front suspension aprt on a members 70, 350, non-AC car
this weekend. I still have one of the springs out, so I will try to measure
it tonight.
I don't know the exact spring rate ... but the original should be about 300.
New shorter ones are usually 460-470 or so.
Be thankful that they are shorter. That was the toughest part of reassembly ...
getting thye spring back into place without a compressor. Did it.

That is normal. The stock springs are longer but the coils are smaller in diameter. My 460 coils were a lot shorter than the stockers. Should not be a problem.
