Default Anyone know what these numbers mean?

While replacing the carpet and after removing the seats, I found a black metal tag ( about 1" X 4") attached on the underside of the seat. Can anyone decipher what these numbers mean?
Top line reads: 542219
bottom reads:LSIM 44984 0156

I haven't found much info on this.

Don't know, but lets compare:

Mine are 355382 LSIM 44984 1645 (bottoms) and 342219 LSIM 44984 1065 (backs).

I have looked in reference books for the last couple of years and found nothing. Can't even decode the LSIM which I assume is the maker. Maybe someone will see and help us.....

The tag I found was from the bottom, i didn't even check the back. I have leather seats too maybe the LSIM 44984 is some indication of leather. Just taking a guess here.

I've got those tags on the backs and bottoms of my 69 too. Don't honestly know what the #'s mean....probably the seat manufacturer's code. I've also got paper tags on the backs and bottoms of my 54. Chuck

Since we are posting up numbers,
Here are the numbers off of the bottom of my seats.
One seat bottom says:
3974001
LSI M 1050
The other bottom says:
3974001
LSI M 1100
One seat back says:
3976538
LSI M 0850
The other seat back says:
3976533
LSI M 0850

I had black vinyl seats in mine from the factory.

After reading your post, Eddie, and knowing you have a 1970, I'm thinking that some of the numbers are likely Julian dates.

LSI M 1050. Might be that the 1050 is the 105th day of 1970, and so on. Chuck

Chuck, I think that I can offer some proof to back up your theory. I have the bare seat frames for my original '69 seats sitting out in the garage. My car is a mid-April '69 build date. I just checked, and both seat backs have the codes LSIM 0739 and 0769. That supports the Julian date theory.

But here is the interesting part. The seat bottoms tags show two different things. One tag reads 3958735 LSIM 0779 while the other reads 3958735 LSIM 2-20-69. That would seem to indicate that somewhere between Feb 20, 1969 and about March 15, 1969 the seat frame tag switched from regular calendar date coding to Julian dating.

Interesting :) Probably is a date. I would also "guess" that if you had a more common interior color, i.e. black, that the dates would closely preceed the assembly of the car. If you had a more "rare" interior, I would guess that the dates on the seats would/could be WAY before the assembly of the car. Chuck

I wonder if the part number on the tags correlates to the color of the seat covers, or whether it was the part number of the seat frame assembly itself? Judging from the way it was mounted to the seat spring, it appears that the tag was put in place when the seat frame itself was assembled. I wonder if the seats frames were assembled and covered on the same line? That would be the only way to tag a given seat frame with a tag that indicated the finished color and material of seat cover, I would think.

This may be a good one to post over on the NCRS discussion board......
