see my answer in the Drag Race section... 40 psi is WAY too much tire pressure - even for the street.. You are going to get excessive wear your tires in the center that way.. Run them with 30 psi on the street...

Hey Oliver!
I usually run them at 33 or so on the street. I vary it from front to rear and also check for treadwear. If the centers look like they're getting worn more, I lower the psi. If the corners are getting rounded off (big problem with fwd cars) or the outter parts get worn, I pump them up. Higher than 30 seems to work well on the rears because of the slightly negative camber. Helps with that inside edge wear. :thumbs:
With the older skinner tires, I went to 40psi at the track because I NEVER lost traction except for the chirp on the 1-2 shift. I got the idea from autocrossing. Those guys pump em up too.
