Ricers and their girlfriends
Last night our neighbors had a B-day party and one of them just turned 21. They have been real good being 3 single guys, all SDSU students renting the house their in. Well the one guy who turned 21 stopped by early afternoon and asked us if it would be okay if he had the party and promised to keep it quiet and gave his cell# if it got too loud. I respect that and thanked him by returning from the grocery store with a 12-pack of Dos Equis and took it over to them. Anyway I was in the garage messing with the chrome on the Vette and the guys came over with some of their friends and wowed over the car. One kid who had arrived in a "riced up" Honda was clearly mechanically inept and I had to explain the theory of engines/ torque etc. I also explained how cams, heads, headers/ 2.5" exhaust affected performance instead of his 5" exhaust tip whose buzzy sound did nothing for performance but just pissed neighbors off and he could gain more speed/ perfomance by emptying his ashtray then putting one of those fart cans on his car. Anyway his girl after reading the rear Corvette script, Corvette lettering on the seats, Corvette logos in the dash, Corvette posters all over my garage asked me "is that a Corvette" ...ahhhhhhhh how did you guess? She points at my DOD sticker and says "You in the Navy?" why yes 19 years, I'm a Navy Counselor Chief Petty Officer. "Oh my husband's in the Navy but he's on West-PAC over in the Gulf". Well I praised her for her courage, mentioned how he's an honorable man etc. etc. They left and ten minutes later she was over at the other guys house. Sucking tongue with the ricer guy while sitting on his lap. that really sucks!! I'd say something but it would fall on deaf ears. Oh well at least the party ended without incident.

I was in Charleston, S.C., during Desert Storm deployment, and couldn't believe the number of women "prowling" the bars. Somehow, I don't think their husbands/SOs would've been happy at the sight

I doubt that a broach of the marriage vows has anything to do with what car a person drives. But coming from a military family, that story gives me grief. I grew up with the service life (RCAF) and lived with the many and lengthy absences of my Father on duty and training during the Cold War in the Yukon/Alaska region during the 1950s, as did my Mother obviously. The Americans were flying F-89 Scorpions and F-102s into Whitehorse for refueling. We went to Anchorage in 1958 by car and the roads in Alaska were lined with USA tanks. As a kid it fascinated me. But the true meaning of military action came much later in life. And that sacrifices that military families make. But they made them. With time I began to understand.
David, sorry to be so sentimental! But the 60th Anniversary of Normandy is coming up in a few weeks. The Brits, Canadians and Americans all did a a job that had to be done. I had hoped to be there but for the ceremonies but some health problems intervened.
As to the original point, the young lady should be thoroughly ashamed of herself! And to repeat it is not a matter of what you drive. It is just basic marital morality.

What a little ****! Her husband is serving country and she's serving the first guy she met after he left. Well at least there is one person who is honorable in that relationship. :cuss

Seen it before, I'm sure I'll see it again! (was even the victim of it once) :cuss
Anyway, glad you were cool about the whole thing, I guarantee that if crap comes down in the neighborhood, you'll be remembered as the "cool guy" and trouble may just bypass you!
See ya!

Thats all I can say, without my wife smacking me over the head. :smash:

I hate military wives. I can hardly wait till my wife is not subjected to being one.

Re: Ricers and their girlfriends (Guru_4_hire)
All too common story. Unfortunately, the poor guys don't even have to be overseas for this to happen. I know a couple of billets that are TDY on base for a month and they have to worry about the wife. :nonod:

If the poor girl had that much trouble figuring out your car was a Corvette, then it's easy to see why she could've forgotten she was married.

That really sucks for the brave man serving all of us over in Iraq. She should be shot IMO. My cousins son is in the Army (still stateside) and he is dating a girl who is married to a solider in Iraq also. I have not seen him since he started dating this girl but I will give him a piece of my mind the next time I do see him.
