I've got 78-82 aluminum wheels on my '70. I thought the biggest tire that would fit w/o rubbing was a 255/60/15. The stock size is 225/70/15 which is slightly taller but skinnier. (I understand tire ratios) The more I put this car back together the more the front tires rub - Damn! Any other combinations out there?
Also I'm thinking of "plus sizing" (16" wheels/tires) what combo's have been tried. My Vette will sit a little lower than stock once I finish, hopefully before my 6 year old gets his license.

I have 15X8 on my 71 with 255/60/15 front w/ NO RUBBING!
and 275/60/15 on back

You have steel/rally wheels? I'm wondering if the Aluminum's have a different back spacing or is it that mine just sits that low?
I'm using BFG Radial T/A's.

My car is not lowered, but I do have 255/60/15 all around on mine and no rubbing. I have the ralley wheels on mine. I don't know if there is a difference or not in the aluminum wheels.

I have rally replicas - my suspension is stock (new, but stock)
My wheels and yours as far as I know all have 4" BS so it could be your suspension

I am using Dunlop GT Qual....

I think mine are 205/70 R-15's front and J-70's in the rear. ;)
