Lowered (Oh no! What have I done?!)
I wanted to lower my front end about an 1 1/2" and accidentally ended up dropping it almost 3"!! Holymoly!! I cut about 1 1/3 of the coil. The wheels don't rub when I turn, so I'll probably have a little fun with it before I slap on some new springs. I'll have to take off the rubber under spoiler lip as it seems to have less than an inch ground clearance.
As for the rears, I used longer leafspring bolts and I think I have it at the height I want. I have adjustable strut rods as well to install, but after I read the posts on the difficulty of installing them, I'll just hold off on those for a while.

Re: Lowered (82Red)
I don't know how some of the C5 guys do it and keep theirs that low all the time. I've only got about 2 inches at my lowest point and from the side it still looks like a 4x4 next to a lowered C5. And I can't even go over most speed bumps.

Re: Lowered (burners)
It a bit of a hassle but I would only cut half a coil at a time, drive it around, let it settle then see how you like it or if you need to cut more, ask me how I know

Re: Lowered (Twin_Turbo)
:iagree: It looks mean, all you need is wheels now!
PS. DUDE, I don't know who told you that, but strut
rods are not hard at all to install.

Springs are relatively inexpensive....new from Auto Zone(TRW-MOOG) about $48. :yesnod:

Re: Lowered (Jughead)
Would you mind measuring from the top of the fender lip to the ground? What kind of springs do you have? Stock/higher rate?
Lookin good :yesnod:

Re: Lowered (LiveandLetDrive)
The distance from the ground to the top of the lip is 25 1/2" for the front and rear. What's amazing is that the the tires don't rub on the insides even when turning.

Re: Lowered (The Dude)
Looking at the shop manual, replacing strut rds seem easy, but the posts indicate problems on getting the shock mounts off.

Re: Lowered (MEGLADON)
Don't forget that "if" you decide to bring it back up, you're now better off with new springs rather than spacers, unless you like a harsh ride. When you cut the springs, you increase the rate.
<edit> But before I forget, it looks totally kewl!!!

Re: Lowered (82Red)
Gents: If you're spring bolts are protruding past the bottom of the rim you have a potentially life threatening condition if you blow a rear tire. At the very least a flat would tear out your whole rear end. I needed to lower my rear but ran into this limitation. Just don't want you to die!
