Cam Selection?? I know - black magic
I know this topic has been discussed more than once but here goes. For my 76 coupe.
I'm building from scratch a 350 bored .060 standard crank, Speed Pro .200 domed pistons. Compression will be 10:1 with the 76cc heads I plan on using with 2.02 and 1.6 valves, headers, Air Gap intake and Holley 750. I'm using a TH-350 that has been rebuilt with the B&M race rebuild kit and a shift kit, not sure of the rear gears but I will stay with 235-70-15's on the rear.
I will install an appropriate torque converter, probably around 3000 stall.
I am looking for heavy street performance, this will be a weekend driver only with no track time.
Of course I'd like that lopey idle but also need the low to mid range torque. I won't be running RPM's in the 6k to 7k range.
How bout some ideas on the spec's?

Started to mention converter. A converter can make up for the lack of low rear gears. Since you don't want to turn 6000+, in which case a lot more cam could be run, a 2400 converter would work fine w/ that cam.

I used a little know, solid lifter cam by Comp Cams. It's very similar to the 70-71LT-1 except it has better low end torque. Part #12-309-1. big duration (246 degrees) with .489" lift. Has a nice lopey idle. I am very happy with it. Definatly and upgraded grind to the LT-1 cam. Would work good with your large valves and the rest of your set-up.

I think you may want to check your math with this setup. Those .200" doomed pistons may cause clearance issues depending on the cam selected. Also the XE-268 cam is not recommended with this high of compression. I would suggest you find out your gear ratio and tire size and make a call to a cam vendor before going any further. Seems like your using all the race stuff off the bottom of the page. Do you have emission testing in your area yet?
